Yummy For Your Tummy, Better For Your Face

It's shocking how many of the ingredients you incorporate in your favorite dishes can, not only nourish our bodies internally, but also be great food for your skin. Many Ayurvedic herbs and spices double as components for really yummy Do-It-Yourself facial treatments. One in particular, is turmeric powder. This yellow spice, which is commonly used in various types of Asian cooking, has been known to clear skin and leave it looking glowing and fresh.

Turmeric's Tantalizing Powers

Turmeric has very strong antioxidant properties that deeply cleanse and impart a variety of anti-aging benefits.  Applying a turmeric face mask can help to revitalize skin and diminish the appearance of pesky wrinkles and dark circles under the eyes, giving the face a more youthful, vibrant look. Turmeric is great for all skin types and has many anti-inflammatory qualities that can help reduce redness and irritation that occurs for those with sensitive skin.

HOW-TO

For a simple turmeric face mask you'll need:

    • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
    • 1 teaspoon milk
    • 1 teaspoon organic honey

Turmeric has a tendency to stain clothing, so make sure you're not wearing anything you're too crazy about. Combine ingredients in a bowl, adding milk as necessary until you reach a paste-like consistency that won't drip.  After removing all makeup, apply the mask evenly over your face and let dry for 20-25 minutes.  Thoroughly wash the mask off with lukewarm water and admire your refreshed skin!
